Background about this blog
My mother, Martha Virginia Greenwaide Carpenter, was born on November 6,
1914. This year is the 100th anniversary of her birth. She was a beautiful and gracious lady, a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. I have created
this blog to honor her memory and her life.
Take a few minutes to remember her through the pictures that I have posted here. You can add your own comments at the bottom of this blog.

Thank you to my parents
I thank God for having had good parents and I pray that God will bless them generously for the wonderful life they gave to me. James Faust may have put it best:"To be a good father and mother requires that the parents defer many of their own needs and desires in favor of the needs of their children. As a consequence of this sacrifice, conscientious parents develop a nobility of character and learn to put into practice the selfless truths taught by the Savior Himself."

Hi Kay: What a terrific way to keep alive a loving memory of your mother. The photos were touching -- they captured a memory for a lifetime of a moment in time that's gone for ever. I remember "Memom" what a sweet woman. I loved the lovely Southern accent that somehow turned the name "Frank" into 2 syllables. I know how you loved her and continue to do so. Thanks for sharing this with us. Love, Vincent
ReplyDeleteHey Kay: I had the honor and pleasure to be in your mother's company on several occasions. Until today I think of her as a fine and loving lady. And lady, in the true sense of the word. Yes, she was a classic, refined and gentle lady who emanated an aura that demanded respect. That along with the deep love she had for her family. Kay, that is what comes to mind when I think of your mother. Thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion and feelings. Love to You, Frank and Arthur
ReplyDeleteI loved the photos of your mother, she was a beautiful woman. Her beauty was not only on the outside but deep and genuine on the inside. "Aunt Virginia" was my first pen pal. Visiting her was my first "solo voyage" on an airplane. I remember spending hours talking to her and Aunt Imogene, she was very insightful and she made me think. We went shopping and she helped me pick out a hammock to bring back to Sandpiper Dr and the whole family could enjoy a piece of my trip.I am privileged to have known her. Love Sarina
ReplyDeleteWhat great memories you have in the pictures you have posted. However, words nor pictures do justice to the joy created by your mother. Kay, one of the many blessings of my life is meeting you and becoming your friend. Due to this friendship, I enjoyed many occasions with your mother. Her smile and embrace assured me I was always welcome in your home. I became part of her/your family for a moment in time. It is a time I cherish. Your mother was love personified. The website you have created is a wonderful tribute to her; one I totally understand. Thank you for sharing. Love, Jewel
